Yesterday, Sunday 27th October 2013, Hackney residents were greeted by a curious sight - several men, women and children wandering down Mare Street in full pantomime dress for the inuagural 'Dame Dash'.
At 1pm the pantomime dames (and a horse!) walked approximately 1km from St Joseph's Hospice to the Hackney Empire to raise funds for both of these great local institutions, accompanied by Hackney Army Cadets.
The finish line was outside Hackney Town Hall where the dames and Clapton (the panto horse) were cheered on by the Mayor of Hackney, crowds of well-wishers and African dancers. Even the sun shone for us!
