Polestars is a company specialising in themed hen parties all over the UK. Most of their parties are centred around different styles of dance, but from January 2012 they introduced some new themes such as glamping, life drawing and make-up and photoshoot.
I began freelancing for Polestars in July 2012, taking photographs as part of the make-up and photoshoot hen party. The bride-to-be and her group have a 2-hour makeover followed by an hour of photography in a London studio. I completed a total of four during 2012, the first two at Bateman Street Studio in Soho, and the last two at Slaughter House in Hackney.
The group sizes ranged from eight to eighteen and personalities ranged from painfully shy to extrovert. It was an interesting exercise in studio lighting, posing technique and crowd control!
The brides-to-be, in order of appearance are: Gretchen, Lorna, Bek and Sarah
